Looking at taking my original images of the reflections of the building site in the water and looking at other ways of distorting and changing the image. Here i have looked at layering tracing paper over half of the image, and then have used ink lines over it. I am extracting the qualities of the scaffolding from the image and placing it over the image in contrast to the fluid lines of the water. I feel that these qualities and ideas are ones that i will continue to experiment with in both my visual research and my samples.

Manchester Cathedral- Emma Senior
Lucy gave me the great idea of looking at stained glass windows after seeing my masking tape window pieces, so I decided to visit Manchester Cathedral where I took a lot of photos to look at the details. The colours in the stained glass windows were so vivid and beautiful, some of them had also been etched into and painted on, I think this would be another interesting way of creating visual research. I also thought that the shapes that the windows are cut in could inspire the shapes I am using in my designs for my felt wall hangings.
Islington Mill- Ailsa Lishman.
Lucy's friend was part of a sculpture exhibition at Islington Mill, which I thought would be really great to see since Islington Mill has been mentioned a few times throughout Unit X, so I wanted to go to see what it was all about, get a feel for the place and whereabouts it was.
Islington Mill is a great building to have an exhibition on at, there's a bar area for entertainment, and plenty of floor and exhibition space. I'm not sure if there's other events on here more often, something to look further into? Would be amazing to have an exhibition on here later in the course!
There was some really great work going on here, not your standard sculptural work either, which I liked. My particular favourites were the lighting sculpture, featuring an upside lampshade with hundreds of light bulbs flowing upwards, and also the hanging white squares, which played with shadows.
Really think it's worth looking into this place more as it's a really great space.
Josiah McElheny
Emma suggested that i look at the work of Josiah McElheny. His work compliments my ideas for this project perfectly. I have been thinking about how to present a traditional textile piece like weave or knit in a 2d digital format and have only been able to source fashion references. So his work gives me more inspiration into how to translate my ideas into an interior or digital format. I also find his use of lines, mirrors and symmetry interesting. Another idea that i had been looking at in relation to my photographs of the scaffolding on the new building.

Luli Sanchez- Ailsa Lishman.
Found these pieces by Luli Sanchez. Really love the mark making she uses in her pieces, creating quite an expressive feel. The inky pieces are my particular favourites, really like where the ink has bled out and faded out.
Snippet of my work- Ailsa Lishman
I've been really liking the effects of acetate printing, so have continued to work with this technique, but adding colour back in, to bring through the brighter colours of fresh flowers. These have been giving me some really good ideas for compositions.
Hope everyone's work is going well!
Stenciling. Tatum
After looking at more images i decided to start experimenting with different shapes that i could see in the buildings, such as these arched windows. I then made a second stencil to create another layer and a sense of 3D.
