Fiona Curran- Ailsa Lishman.

We were shown a really interesting insight into the work of Fiona Curran, who will be part of the team teaching us next year. Curran does a lot of paintings, but also, translates her ideas into spaces. It was this work that I was particularly interested by, as it was very relevant to our project.

This project was to design for a project called 'Designing Identity' for Tatton Park as part of the Biennial in 2010. Curran started from this tiny model of what she wanted to create, which turned into this...

Curran really expressed the importance of visualisation, just so you can even get a small glimpse as to whether your idea is going to work or not. 

Curran had to translate her paintings onto a wall as part of a commission for a hospital, I really like how she's worked with the plain white walls, which are generally seen as being very clinical, adding a bit of fun to them, with bright bold colours. Curran has utilized the space well, I think it works really well to have one wall almost completely covered by her work.

This has made me want to try lots more compositions for my final outcome, I think it's quite important to have a few options to choose from.
