Garden Visits- Ailsa Lishman.

I visited stately home Harewood House in Leeds, as it had the formal terrace gardens. I really wanted to look at a garden that had more of a layout, and these really did.

I've been visiting a number of gardens as part of my personal research, which can be found on my personal blog. This one was one of my favourites, with a more formal garden at Harewood House, which also had a walled garden with a vegetable patch.

I've visited;
- Harewood House
- Rounhay Park
- Wythenshawe Park
- Fletcher Moss
- Dunham Massey
- Hulme Community Garden Centre

The last 4 are all fairly local gardens to look at in Manchester, I know Kate, you've been looking into the Eden Project, so you may be interested at visiting some of these maybe?

  1. I think the formal layout of these gardens works really well for your work Alisa... As gardens/plants/flowers etc is such a big subject this gives it more of a direction and focus? Would work really well in conjunction with your idea of layering!

  2. The first photos at the top remind me of crop circles, this may also give you some design ideas?
